Dex Now Features Every Japanese Expansion!

Hey everyone, I’m Rick van den Belt, Content Manager at Dex. I’ve got some exciting news to share: after months of hard work and digging through the world of Japanese Pokémon cards, Dex now has the most complete database out there! We’ve officially added the final Japanese set, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to see this journey come full circle.

My Journey with Dex

When Pedro reached out to me about joining Dex, I didn’t think twice — I jumped right in. Researching rare and obscure cards has always been a passion of mine, and I’ve always been particularly fascinated by the hidden gems in the Japanese Pokémon TCG. From special promos to vintage sets, the Japanese side of the game is packed with unique cards that are hard to find anywhere else.

For months, I’ve been on a mission to track down every single Japanese card and make sure it’s added to Dex. There were moments when it felt like the journey would never end. There were always more sets to explore, more variants to find, and more obscure releases that needed to be documented. But today, I’m proud to say that we’ve finally done it.

A Game-Changer for Dex

This milestone is a major turning point for Dex. We’re no longer just a solid database — we’re the most complete Pokémon TCG app available, especially when it comes to Japanese cards. Whether you’re looking to explore the earliest vintage sets or the newest expansions, you’ll find it all right here.

But even though we’ve hit this major milestone, we’re not slowing down. We’re now laser-focused on ensuring that Dex includes every single card variant available. From subtle holo pattern changes to regional exclusives and everything in between, no variant will be left out. Our goal is to ensure that collectors and fans can find exactly what they’re looking for, down to the smallest details.

The Numbers Behind the Collection

Dex now features an incredible 434 Japanese expansions, with a total of 24,267 cards — and that’s not even including all the variants! Whether you’re a collector hunting for rare vintage sets or looking to stay on top of the latest releases, Dex now gives you access to the most comprehensive Japanese TCG collection out there.

Exciting News: A New Feature Coming Soon in Alpha!

I’m also excited to announce that we’ll be rolling out a new feature in the coming days: specific scans for each card variant. These scans will make it even easier for you to identify exactly which variant you own.

At launch, this feature will roll out in an alpha state, meaning only a few selected variants will be supported initially. But don’t worry—we’re committed to expanding this feature to cover more variants over time as we gather feedback and continue improving Dex.

So, if you’re a Pokémon TCG fan, make sure to dive into the Dex app and explore our newly completed Japanese collection. It’s been an incredible journey to get here, and I can’t wait to see what you all think. In fact, I challenge you — try to find a card that’s not included!

Thanks for sticking with us — and here’s to even more exciting features ahead!
