Roadmap for 2023
2022 proved to be an incredible year for Dex. We released tons of new features, hundreds of users support us with Dex+, and thousands join us every single day. Nevertheless, we're not stopping here as there's still plenty of room for improvements.
Card Variants
We hear you, loud and clear. You all want the ability to track card variants such as Reverse Holo, 1st Edition, Shadowless, and more. We've already started working on it and we're confident we'll be able to release card variants to the public during the first quarter of 2023.
Similar to the release of japanese sets, we'll be releasing card variants across multiple updates - for example, Dex 6.0.0 will release with card variants support for the entire Sword & Shield Series, Dex 6.1.0 will add support for the entire Sun & Moon Series, and so on.
Japanese Prices
Japanese sets are currently in beta because:
- We're still missing a bunch of older sets.
- Unlike International Sets, we do not support card prices for japanese cards.
During 2023, we'll be handling both so you can finally use Dex to catalog all your japanese cards, as well as, their value.
Dex for Players
Dex is already the best place to be for Pokémon TCG collectors on any Apple platform. In 2023, we want to go even further and make it the best place for players as well.
For now, we won't reveal much, but there's plenty of features in the pipeline that align with this vision, such as: card legality, support deck folders, in-app deck builder, PTCGO / PTCG Live integration, and more.
Dex for Resellers
With over 2600 App Store reviews and a 4.8 out of 5.0 rating, Dex is loved by many people from all over the place. This said, one recent review signaled something that we have never considered:
Would be nice to be able to export in a gallery with image links to add to my websit, but overall a great app for keeping track of your collection. A few advanced options for resellers like me would be awesome!
Unlike Dex for Players, we don't have a clear idea of what features would make Dex for Resellers great, but we'd love to try to make it better. If you're a reseller, please contact us via email and tell us what would make Dex awesome for you - while we can't promise it will be done, we'll definitely look into it.
Smart Folders
Wouldn't it be great if you could create a bookmark folder that is automatically updated with all the cards that you own more than 2 copies? This is just an example, but we believe it showcases how Smart Folders would work and how powerfull they can be.
With Decks and Smart Folders we're planning to expand the types of bookmark folders you can create - with each offering different features and solving different problems.
While Decks from the Dex for Players initiative and your current folders allow you to manually add or remove cards from a folder, Smart Folders would instead be based on a set of rules that you define and are automatically updated based on your data.
Sounds crazy, right? Coming out in 2023.
Localization
As mentioned before, Dex is used and loved by many people from all over the place. We are aware that language might be a barrier to some and we want to offer Dex in as many languages as we possibly can.

Paldea Region
Pokémon recently released the Pokémon Scarlet & Violet videogames and anounced that it's coming for the trading card game as well soon. We'll be updating Dex to include the new Paldea region, as well as, all new creatures in January, along with the release of Violet ex and Scarlet ex in Japan.
